- This game is all about experimenting with new dribbling skills so create a pitch with cones, flats, etc – create obstacles and lines.
- Create a sequence with each obstacle representing a skill
- Once the pitch is setup give players a time limit to go onto the obstacle course and experiment with new skills.
- Next give players the chance to share a skill with one other player and then add in time to practise.
- Now ask players to share skills with the whole group so that everyone can practise.
- Finally, challenge each player to count how many skills they can attempt in 60 seconds.
- Do it again with a view to beating your last score
Add a hungry pacman on certain obstacles their job is to steal balls from the dribblers and put them into the yellow circle.
Discovery learning. Great questions to ask…
- What is your favourite skill?
- What makes a good hockey skill?
- Why is it harder to do skills when pacman is about?
- What is the best way to get away from Pacman?
- Whose skill would you most like to steal?
Coaching points
- Low right hand for strength in tackling and good control when dribbling.
- Upright with the right hand slightly higher up the stick is better for running fast.
